McNABB, Donald Alexander In loving memory of Donald Alexander McNabb, 75 years, of Sudbury, who passed away Saturday morning, May 13th, 2000 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Centre. He was born in Collingwood and married Gladys (Belisle) in 1944 in Copper Cliff. Don was a well respected & well known Sudburian. He had been a mechanic at INCO for over 25 years, he then worked for the Ontario Government Ministry of Labour retiring as a clerk from the Attorney-General's office. A passionate trade unionist he had been a vice president with the Mine Mill Local #598 and founding president of the USWA #6500. A proud Canadian he had served overseas during WWII as a stoker in the Royal Canadian Navy having been decorated for distinguished service. A charter member and life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #564, Lockerby, he was also a member of the War Pensioners Association of Canada and the Naval Veterans Association. A dedicated community volunteer he had been a former Knight of Columbus, scout-leader in Broder-Dill, school board trustee for Broder-Dill and worker for many neighbourhood canvasses, recreational activities and worthy causes. An accomplished hockey player in his younger days, he played for the Copper Cliff Redmen. He also enjoyed hunting & fishing and more recently gardening. Don will be remembered as a strict but fair person whose unique sense of humour made many smile and whose love and devotion to his family was the cornerstone of his life. Beloved husband of Gladys (Belisle) McNabb of Sudbury. Loving father of George McNabb (wife Judy), Dona Bondy (husband Fred) and Linda McKetsy (husband Mark) all of Sudbury, Clifford McNabb (wife Linda) of Parkside, Sask., and Ronald McNabb (wife Sue) of Towfield, Alberta. Cherished grandfather of Gisele (predeceased), Pamela, Shawna, Darren, Kimberly, Taycee, Clifford, Jennifer, Jodi, and Victoria. Dear son of Bruce and Anne McNabb predeceased. Dear brother of Charlie McNabb (wife Margaret) of Stayner and Wilbert Hamilton predeceased. Dear step-son of Bernadette Butler of Sudbury and the late John Alexander "Sandy" Butler predeceased. Dear step-brother of Red Butler (wife Marie) of Whitefish, Robert Butler (wife Isabelle) of Mattawa, Gail Gayowski of Nairn Center and Rick Butler (wife Emily) of Sudbury. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury. Funeral Prayers in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, Tuesday, May 16th, 2000 at 11:30 a.m. Cremation at the Parklawn Crematorium. A memorial service will be held 7:30 p.m. Monday under the auspices of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #564 Lockerby, the War Pensioners of Canada and the Naval Veterans Association. In lieu of flowers donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
