BALKWILL, Lena May (Rogers) Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 21st at the Sun Parlor Home for Senior Citizens, Leamington. In her 93rd year. Formerly of Southgate Residence Kingsville, Essex and Gosfield South Twp. Beloved wife of 73 years of the late Philip Richard Balkwill who passed away Wednesday, May 24th. Loving mother of Bertha and her husband Harold Sweetman of Windsor, Paul and his wife Shirley of Ridgetown, and the late Hugh Balkwill (1999). Loved mother-in-law of Ruth Balkwill of Colorado. Dearest grandma of 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Cherished sister of Hugh and Helen Rogers, Ora and Garnet Stevenson, Margaret and Jack Lewis, Norma and Murray Ferguson, and Evelyn Rogers. She was pre-deceased by one brother Glen and five sisters, Pearl, Mina, Jean, Erma, and Verna. Loved sister-in-law of Mary and Cameron Scott, Urcyle and Elma Balkwill, and Clayton and Jean Balkwill. She was pre-deceased by one brother-in-law Garnet and two sisters-in-law, Jean and Annie. She will be sadly missed by her numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Balkwill rested at the C. Stuart Sykes Funeral Home, 91 Division St. S. on Wednesday, May 24th. A combined Funeral Service for Lena and her husband Philip was held from the auditorium of the Sun Parlor Home in Leamington on Thursday, May 25th at 11 a.m. Mrs. Linda Blair officiated. Interment and Committal Service will be held in Greenhill Cemetery, Kingsville on Friday, May 26th at 11 a.m. If desired. donations to the Trinity United Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.(The Windsor Star)
