GILLIS, John Joseph. Died peacefully at his home in Victoria, B.C., on July 13, 2000, at the age of ninety years. He was predeceased by his wife, Elsie (nee McCall) who died earlier this year. He will be remembered by his family and friends in Alberta, Ontario and B.C. John received his Bachelors of Mathematics and Science from the University of Alberta in 1938 and his Masters of Science in Meteorology in 1952. He worked for the Canadian Meterological Service in Montreal before retiring and moving to Victoria. Following cremation, his ashes will be buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Edmonton, along with those of his wife, later this summer. There will be a family gathering at that time.
