P.Eng., Retired Major, RCEME Suddenly, Saturday, December 30, 2000. William Virtue age 75. Survived by his daughter Sharon; sister Anita Chesire; ex-wife Esther and friend Yvonne Demalpas. Predeceased by his son Gordon William Virture and parents Catherine (MacEachern) and E.W. Virtue. Bill served in the RCNVR in WWII; graduating post-war as an Electrical Engineer from the University of Alberta and subsequently serving in the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, where he retired in the rank of Major. Later, he was employed at the Department of Supply and Services where he was president of the Supply and Services Union (PSAC); at Atomic Energy of Canada, and Paramax Corp. Montreal, until he was disabled by a stroke in 1987. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 2313 Carling Ave. (west of Carlingwood) Friday after 12 noon. A Service in Memory of Bill will be held Friday in the Chapel at 1 p.m. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a Charity of Choice appreciated. Ottawa Citizen, January 03, 2001
