Paul Després Funeral services for long-time Hearst resident Paul J. Després, 92, of Notre-Dame Hospital were held Oct. 5, 2001. He died Oct. 3 at the hospital. Born Jan. 1, 1909 in Terrebonne, Quebec, he came to the area in 1935. He last worked as a timber scaler at United Sawmill (now Tembec Hearst) until 1976. He liked the outdoors and nature. Predeceased by brothers Alfred, Marcel and Donat Després, he leaves his wife Cécile (Labelle) Després, sons Jean-Claude of Montreal, André (Florence) and Jules (Rachelle), all of Hearst, and Gérald (Lorraine) Després of Moonbeam, and daughters Gabrielle (Hilaire) Picard and Madeleine (Robert) Durand, all of Thunder Bay, Pauline Brochu of Geraldton and Danielle (Roland) Girard of Hearst. Also surviving are sisters Marguerite Limoges, Laurette Pilon and Thérèse Lachapelle, all of Terrebonne, as well as 20 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Reverends Sébastien Groleau and Rémi Lessard officiated the service at the Église St-Pie X. Interment followed at the Monseigneur Grenier
