Germaine Lachance Funeral services for longtime Hearst resident Germaine Marie (née Robineau) Lachance of 44 Mongeon St. were held Aug. 28, 2001. She died Aug. 26 at Notre-Dame Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born Sept. 29, 1924 in Kapuskasing, she came to Calstock in 1943, where her parents ran a lumber camp. Married in 1946, she came to Hearst in 1953. A hospital food service aide until her retirement in 1986, she was a member of the Club soleil des aîné-e-s seniors club and enjoyed bowling, camping and playing cards. Predeceased by her parents Rebecca (née Pilon) and Daniel Robineau, sisters Juliette Lincez and Laurent Robineau and Thomas Robineau and grandson Stéphane Ouellet (in 1987), she leaves her husband Romuald Lachance, a son Rhéal (Linda) Lachance, all of Hearst, and daughters Jeannette (Jacques) Roy of North Bay, Thérèse (Norman) Ouellet and Noëlla (Jacques) Fortin, all of Hearst. Also surviving are sisters Lilianne Caputo of Flint, Michigan, Yvette Houde of Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, and Madeleine Pratt of Brantford, a brother Gaston (Georgina) Robineau of Sault Ste. Marie, and eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Rev. Rémi Lessard officiated the morning service at the Notre-de-l'Assomption Cathedral. Interment was at the Val Côté Cemetery.
