Former resident of Kapuskasing Emma Odila (Lola) (nee Belanger) Sauve died at her home in the company of her family in Pickering, Ontario, April 1, 2001, after a long battle with cancer. She was 67 years old. Mrs. Sauve was born Feb. 12, 1934 in Strickland, moving from Kapuskasing to Pickering in 1983. She was devoted to her husband and children, active in the Daughters of Isabella, as well as employed by John Dubien before her move. Mrs. Sauve is survived by her husband of 46 years, Marcel, of Pickering; son Gerald (Carole) of Gibsons, British Columbia; daughters Deborah (Rick) Brown of Kamloops, BC, Muriel Sauve of Pickering, and Gail (Dom) Greco Of Oshawa; grandchildren Ryan, Richard, and Rémi Sauve, Erika, Tiffany and Her Princess Dayna Brown, James and Jessica Poitras, and Jordan Sauve; brotherVincent (Lucette) Bélanger of Strickland; sisters Viola (Germain) Petit ofStrickland, Lorraine Hachey of Moonbeam, Avinal Tremblay of Annonciation,Quebec, Valerie Bélanger of Laval Des Rapides, Quebec, and numerous Nieces and nephews; best friend Estelle Barriault and many other friends. A memorial service was held in Kapuskasing at Immaculée Conception Church,June 23. Mrs. Sauve was interred at the Strickland Cemetery with her motherJean Ann (Heïs) Bélanger. The funeral was held at Holy Redeemer Church In Pickering, April 4.
