Marguerite Anna-Marie Comeau(nee: Gagnon),of Hearst Death: September 21st, 2001 Marguerite Comeau Funeral services for Hearst resident Marguerite Anna-Marie (née Gagnon) Comeau, 88, of 10 Ninth St. were held Sept. 21, 2001. She died suddenly, Sept. 18, at Notre-Dame Hospital. Born June 29, 1913 in St-Prosper, Dorchester, Quebec, she came to Hearst in 1929. After moving to Val Côté and later St-Alexandre, Quebec in 1941, she returned to Hearst in 1950 following her husband's death. After operating several restaurants, she bought the downtown Queen's Hotel from Henri Selin in 1953 and then sold it to son Claude in 1964. As partners, the two then built the 22-unit Queen's Motel on Front St. in 1966; she eventually sold him her share. An avid gardener, she travelled for many years to Florida, where she bought a motel with a Hearst partner before selling her share. She was predeceased by husband Edmond Comeau in St-Alexandre in 1949, a son Raymond Comeau of Hearst in 1997, and many brothers and sisters. She leaves sons Claude (Mona) and Roger (Diane) Comeau, all of Hearst, and Clermont (Pauline) of Callandar, and daughters Thérèse (Gérard) Boisvert of Hearst, Cécile (Gérard) Bégin of Kelowna, B. C., and Marie-Claire (Peter) Pomfret of Oakville. Also surviving are sisters Marie-Paule Duguay of Quebec City and Thérèse (Armand) Ouellette of Vancouver, daughter-in-law Rachel Comeau of Hearst, 20 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. Rev. Sébastien Groleau officiated the service at the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Cathedral. Interment followed at the Monseigneur Grenier Cemetery. Funeral director was the Salon Lafrance Funeral Home. Published on September 21st, 2001
