Vernon Strang READY

Queen's Arts '44 Queen's Hon L.L.D. '89 In deep sorrow we announce the death of Vernon Strang Ready, beloved husband of Eileen (nee Sorensen), loving father of Robert Bryan and his wife Joanne of Ottawa and grandfather of Geoffrey, Chloe and Aidan, and Eric Thomas and his wife Linda of Lindsay and grandfather of Erin, Emily and Hana. He leaves us after a long and happy life of distinguished service to the cause of education. His career took him from the one-room schools of North Frontenac County through the offices of Principal of K.C.V.I. and founding dean of the Queen's Faculty of Education and finally as Executive Assistant to Queen's Principals Ron Watts and David Smith. His final thoughts were of his first priority his family, and large body of friends. Friends may call at the JAMES REID Funeral Home, CATARAQUI CHAPEL (Counter Street at Highway 2) Kingston on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at 3:30 p.m. with Queen's Chaplain Reverend Brian Yealland officiating. Immediate cremation with interment at Cataraqui Cemetery in the spring. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations made to the Providence Continuing Care Centre Foundation at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
