Peacefully in his ninety-sixth year on Friday, January 5, 2001 at Sutton, Quebec. He emigrated from London, England to pursue a career with Canadian Pacific Railway where he rose to become Senior Vice-President. He was appointed Chairman of the Metric Commission where he oversaw Canada's conversion to the metric system. He continued in his retirement as a consultant for Canadian Pacific Consulting. After a long and happy life, he will be greatly missed by his wife Eve, his son Jonathan (Evangelina) and his daughter Abigail, also by his grandchildren Kimberly (John McMullen) MacDuff, Allison (Joey Gunn), Hilary (Wouter Germans), Sarah (Pete Gaffney), Giovanna and Stevenson, and his six great-grandchildren, Cameron, Anne, Cullen, Brasil, Esker and Saskia. Specially missed by stepdaughter Carol (Robert Schmidt) and stepgrandson Morgan Beare and sadly by stepgrandson Kurt Walchyshyn (Cheryl Hillman) and step great-granddaughter Rebecca. A farewell service will be celebrated on Thursday, January 11, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. at the Grace Anglican Church, 52 Main Street, Sutton, Quebec. The family will receive condolences at the church from 12:30 p.m. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Desourdy Wilson Funeral Home, 31 Main S. St., Sutton, Quebec. Donations in his memory to the Foundation Brome Missisquoi Perkins, 950 Principale, Cowansville, Que., would be appreciated by the family. Montreal Gazette, January 09, 2001
