Beloved father, brother and grandfather André Donat Ouimette, 62, of Willimantic, son of Arthur H. Ouimette and the late Medora Fontaine of Canada, died January 31, 2001 at the Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born in Coaticook, Canada, October 9, 1938. He is survived by six children, Holly Mastera, Nicole Ouimette, Nanette Ouimette, Susie Funk. Aaron Ouimette and Ian Ouimette; five grandchildren, Heather Gartwait, Nicolas and Sebastian Pantovich, Miranda Williams and Hannah Funk; six brothers and sisters-in-law and five sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucien Ouimette (Therese) of Canada, Marie Jeanne Bissonette (Arthur) of Canada, Léonard Ouimette (Antoinette) of CT, Rachel Ouimette (Therese) of CT, Lucille Lafond (Roger) of NH, Cecile Roy (late Hector) of Canada, Georgette Ouimette of CT, twin brother, Martial Ouimette (Edith) of CT, Solange Gagnon (Adrien) of VT, Laurent Ouimette (Carol) of VA and Albert Ouimette (Laura) of CT; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; longtime friend and companion, Genie Ziemski; mother of his sons Cheryl Williams Ouimette and mother of his daughters, Linda Ouimette Lepsesty. He worked at Firestone in Hartford for many years and was a beloved employee. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Windham. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. A private memorial will be held in Canada at a later date.
