Lura's Last Prayer Lura May Jackson Graham passed away peacefully early on the morning of February 3, 2001, in her 103rd year. The morning before she left us, she announced that God had given her a wonderful opportunity to talk and for three hours she spoke, with love and gratitude, of the people who had touched her during a life which spanned three centuries. This was her final wish. She wanted everyone to know how much she loved them, how much she appreciated what they had done for her, and to apologize for any hurts she may have caused unintentionally. She had great faith in her Creator and prayed that those she loved would be blessed and protected. She spoke of her love for those who passed away before her: her parents, Harriet and William E. Jackson; her husband, Robert S. Graham; her son, Jackson, and two infant daughters; her aunts and uncles. She thought of her sisters and brother: Edna Lyttle (Renfrew), Clifford (deceased), Olive McElroy (Ottawa), Lyla Hennessy (Westmeath) and Eileen Truelove (Pembroke); her grandchildren: Andrea Graham (Beachburg) and James Graham (Burnaby, B.C.); and her daugher-in-law, Joy Graham (Ajax). She deeply appreciated the cards, letters, and visits of her nieces and nephews and the distant relatives who kept in touch with her. She was especially grateful to her nephew, John Truelove (Nepean), and his wife Diana, for their invaluable service to herself and her sisters. She could not speak well enough of her doctor and friend of 22 years, Helen Berolo, or of the staff at the Glebe Centre who treated her with such kindness and made her laugh. How much she valued her neighbours and friends, especially the children, Holly, Isabel, and Elisha, who came to visit her! Know that if you rendered her any service, large or small, she truly appreciated it. At Lura's request, there was no visitation and a private service was held at St. Augustine's Church in Beachburg with only her loving and devoted granddaughter in attendance. Interment will be in Beachburg in the Spring. Donations to a charity of your choice, made care of Fraser, Morris and Heubner Funeral Home in Cobden, would honour her desire to be of help to all.
