Peacefully at Montreal General Hospital, on February 11, 2001, after a courageous fight for life. Jim was born in Columbus, Ohio, moved with his family at the age of fifteen to Montreal, graduated from Montreal High School and McGill, enlisted as a private in the Canadian Army and served here and overseas before being discharged with the rank of captain in 1945. Jim joined the Public Relations Dept. of Bell Canada, and retired as Corporate Secretary in 1980. He leaves his devoted wife, Marjorie, three children, Nancy, David and Mary, and five grandchildren. He was a generous-hearted man whose quick wit, thoughtfulness, gentleness and steady dependability brought strength to his loved ones. Visitation at Armstrong Funeral Home, 1640 Blvd. Cote Vertu (West of Decarie), Ville St-Laurent on Thursday, February 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. Service at Mount Royal United Church, 1800 Graham Blvd., on Friday at 11 a.m. Instead of flowers, a donation to the charity of one's choice would be appreciated. Special thanks to the Montreal General Thoracic Unit for their excellent care. Montreal Gazette, February 14, 2001
