In hospital Ottawa, Wednesday, February 21, 2001 surrounded by family. Walter Joseph Burke Stanton longtime resident of Quyon, Quebec in his 84th year. For 54 precious years, loving husband and best friend of Patricia Griffin. Loving and devoted father of Carolyn Johnston (Arthur), Colleen Barr (Ron), Paul (Shannon), Elaine, Sharon and Neil. Proud and treasured grandpa of Gregory (Natasha), Melissa and Kara Johnston; Amanda (Kevin Straus) and Candace Stanton (fiance Joey Grinnell). Dear brother of John Cletus (late Lucille) of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Monica of Ottawa and Irma Blackwell of Bramalea. Predeceased by his parents Edward and Ruth (Burke) Stanton, his sister Muriel Kilroy (Harry) and brother Edmund (Margaret). Lovingly remembered by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. W.J. took pride in his Irish heritage, enjoyed his horses, the farm and his many years as a school bus driver. We will always hold dear his strong faith and love of family, his special gift of story telling and wonderful sense of humour. We are comforted by your promise throughout our lives "Mark my words, no matter the time or distance, whenever you need me, I'll be there." Special thanks to the staff of 5th floor, General Hospital for their care and compassion.
