age 78 of Howie Centre, Cape Breton County, Nova Scotia and formerly of Ottawa. Passed away Thursday, February 22, 2001 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she had lived in both Ottawa and Hamilton before moving to Nova Scotia. She had been employed for almost 20 years at R.C.M.P. Headquarters in Ottawa and Mary had been an avid painter and artist. Survived by her son Joseph (Margaret) of Coxheath, Nova Scotia and daughters Minka "Mary" (Stephen) Hunter, Moose Jaw, Sask., and Sylvia Burton of Ottawa, 5 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. Predeceased by her husband Joseph, a daughter Barbara in infancy and a brother. Visitation is at T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Sydney, Nova Scotia on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River. Interment in East Bay. Donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Ottawa Citizen, February 23, 2001
