Peacefully at the St. Vincent de Paul Hospital, Brockville on Saturday, March 10, 2001 at the age of 80 years. Beloved husband of Jane Jaques for 56 years and loving father of Hugh Gilbert and his wife Barbara of Napanee, Ginny Warrener and her husband Jay of Unionville, Shan Cooper and her husband Doug of Brampton and Joanne McDonald and her husband Stephen of Ottawa. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer, Christopher, Anna and Ian; Michael, David and Carolyn; Brianna and Caitlin; Carly and Jane. Also survived by his sister Dorothy Brunet of Picton. Predeceased by his brother James Gilbert. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday after 10 a.m. In Celebration of Ian's life, a ceremony will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. followed by a gathering in the funeral home reception centre.
