1923-2001. In Montreal on March 24, 2001 at the age of seventy-seven, after a short illness. Marion died suddenly in her home in Montreal. She is survived by her five children (Judy of Ann Arbor, Mary and Mark of Los Angeles, Eric of Belgium and John of Montreal) and her eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her husband Lewis of Vermont. She grew up in Roger City, Michigan and lived there until 1960 when she moved to Port Cartier, Quebec pioneering a new community on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River. In 1970 she moved to Montreal where, after her nest emptied, she graduated from Concordia University. She worked as a journalist, editor and freelance writer and was actively involved in her community, volunteer work and with her close friends up to the time of her death. Consistent with her wishes, a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28 at the St. Lambert United Church, 85 Desaulniers Blvd. Donations to either of her favorite charities, Chez Doris (a woman's day shelter), 1430 Chomedey, Montreal, or Amnesty International.
