KIRKEY, Gerald A. Passed away at Heartwood on February 15, 2011. Gerald Anthony Kirkey of Cornwall; age 87 years. Served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II, at home and overseas in Air Crew #76 squadron-RAF as a Wireless Air Gunner. Retired member of the Cornwall Police Service for over 30 years. Past chairman of Cornwall and Area Housing Authority. Member of Knights of Columbus Council # 10974, St. Columban’s Parish. Beloved husband of 59 years to Lurline M. (Laurie) Kirkey, (nee Dancause). Loving father of Timothy A. Kirkey (Sheila) of Whitby, and Stephen A. Kirkey (Gail) of Cornwall. Dear grandfather of five grandchildren, Barry, Bruce, Brian, Jonathan and Douglas. Dear son of the late Herman L. Kirkey and the late Mary Maude DeRochie. Dear brother of Ruth Stidwill (Late Leonard) of Cornwall and Shirley McGrath (Charles) of Norwood, New York. Predeceased by two brothers Cletus and Reginald Kirkey and three sisters Guelda Collins, Bernice Dupuis, and Lorna Kirkey. Will be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. Resting at the Lahaie and Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Home, West Branch, 20 Seventh St. West (613-932-8482) . Funeral on Friday, February 18, 2011 for Mass of Christian Burial in St. Columban’s Church at 11 A.M. Cremation. The family will be in attendance on Thursday from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. only, and from 9 A.M. until the time of Funeral on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
