Passed away at the Hamilton General Hospital on April 9, 2001 at age 81. Loved by his devoted wife of 58 years, Jean (Metherall). Father and best friend to sons Chris for his loving care, James of Cornwall (Susan) and Dennis of Ottawa (Darlene). Grandfather to David (Lori) and great-grandfather to Katlyn and Christopher, born this day. One brother-in-law, Lionel Dauphinee (Daisy) of Halifax. Predeceased by his sister Daisy, and parents Susan and George. A ship designer during WWII in Halifax, Roy moved to Ottawa to assume a Naval Architect position with National Defense. An avid sailor and mean harmonica player, Jean and Roy danced many the night away at the yacht club. He retired to Welland and eventually Port Colborne, with a winter home in Florida for 23 wonderful years. Roy's family will receive visitors at the ARMSTRONG Funeral Home, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at which time Rev. Roger Hides of the Central United Church will conduct a funeral service in the Armstrong Chapel. Roy's family will also receive visitors at the Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa on Saturday, April 14, 2001 from 10 - 11 a.m. at which time a service will take place in the chapel.
