Peacefully in hospital, Wednesday, April 11, 2001. Surrounded by his sons, after a brief but valiant struggle against cancer at age 63. Loving husband and best friend of Barbara Parker. Devoted and proud father of Alan (Angela Rich), Catherine (David Benn), Grant and Kevin. Fond and loving grandfather of Laura and Cameron Benn and Joshua, Victoria and Zoe Bird. Dear brother of Bill (Pat), Yvonne (Frank LaFerla), Iris (Floyd Swant), Marilyn Crandall and Clifford (Flo). Predeceased by his parents William and Leta Bird and brother John. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus Hematology Dept. (BMT Unit - 5th Floor) and the ICU for their wonderful compassionate care of Peter during his illness. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 580 Eagleson Road, Kanata, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service Tuesday in the Chapel at 1 p.m. Donations to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre appreciated.
