Peacefully, with his son Jeffrey and daughter Lorraine by his side at St. Vincent's Hospital on Monday, May 7, 2001. Born in Eganville, Ontario, on January 9, 1919. He is survived by his sister Madeleine and brother Marcel (Alice) of Lachine, Quebec. Dear father to Jeffrey (Nancy Rochon) and Lorraine (Bill Hubbs), husband of Iona Rochon and special friend of the late Claire McCarthy. A special thank you to the loving and caring staff of St. Vincent's Hospital, who became his second family, who were there for him at every step of his journey. He will be missed by his three grandchildren, Eric Rochon and Carrie and Christopher Hubbs. Raymond was a long-time public servant who retired from the Department of National Defence in 1986 after thirty-seven years of loyal service. Prior to that, he proudly served his country with the Canadian Army during World War II. From his early days in grade school, he harboured a great love for Notre Dame football that saw him through his entire life. It was his passion. Friends may call at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 235 Kent Street, on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Patrick's Basilica on Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment at Capital Memorial Gardens. Donations to the St. Vincent Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Ottawa Citizen, May 09, 2001
