Gave up her breath on Monday, May 14, 2001 in Almonte, Ontario, surrounded by her loved ones, after a long fight with breast cancer. Born January 17, 1947 in the bush near Jeanne Marie, NWT, she overcame many obstacles to earn her B.A. (UWO) and M.A. (McGill), all the while raising a family and pursuing native rights and concerns in Canada. Beloved companion of Ronald Pokrupa and mother of their children Taj, Celine and Tamara.She is also survived by sister Kaitch, daughter-in-law Adrienne and grandson Tristan. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 25 at 10 a.m. at the Unitarian Church of Montreal, 5035 Blvd. de Maisonneuve West, Montreal, Quebec.
