(Lennox Antiques) Peacefully at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital on Tuesday, May 15, 2001 in her 79th year. Mary Alice Lennox, daughter of the late Lawrence James and Madeleine Margaret Linton. For 54 years the beloved wife of Donald Haughton Lennox. Dear mother of David Michael Lennox (Elizabeth O'Brien) of Calgary and of Patricia Anne "Patti" Lennox (David Mattey) of Carleton Place. Proud grandmother of Michelle, Patrick and Allison Lennox of Calgary and Ryan, Sarah, Trevor, Llewellyn and Rachel Mattey of Carleton Place. Also leaving behind her sister Jean of Toronto. She was predeceased by sisters Audrey Alison (Ron) of Orillia and Marjorie "Marnie" McCloskey (Larry) of Guelph and by brother Bill (Dorothy) of Hamilton. Mary enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. Prior to marriage and for some years thereafter she sang professionally and was a guest artist on several coast-to-coast CBC broadcasts. She became a featured regular on the weekly musical show, McCready's Mansions, and also had her own show, A Song in the Night with Lynda White. As a mother she took a deep interest in her children's education, serving simultaneously as president of two Edmonton home and school associations and reorganizing a school library. She still found time to serve as a president of a university gourmet club and as a volunteer with the Edmonton Citadel Theatre. When the family moved back to Ottawa she became interested in antiques and in quick order graduated from enthusiastic amateur to knowledgeable professional with her own store and many appearances at local antique shows. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her, in particular by her longtime friend Fran Potts and by Jim McCloskey, a very special nephew. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 3000 Woodroffe Avenue (south of Fallowfield), Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service Friday in the Chapel at 1 p.m. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens.
