DVM After a valiant fight with cancer on Sunday, May 20, 2001. Dear husband of Trees Gwee Nio Gan, beloved father of Renee, Monica (Darren Ducharme) and Bruce Gan. Predeceased by parents, Fien Tiam Nio Lie and Tjiang Kim Gan. Brother of Jajang Gandakusumah (Jiska Meliana), Hendrawaty Gandakusumah (Kusuma Wiraatmadja), Pipik Gandakusumah (Suwartha Muljadi), Surya Gandakusumah (Martini Rikin), King Gandakusumah (Linda Magdalena), Engkih Gandakusumah (Susan Pelangi), all of Indonesia. Brother-in-law of Relly Giok Nio Kwee (Wie Han, deceased) and Michael Tjwan Keng Lim (Leny). He is also survived by many nephews and nieces. A veterinarian by training, he was also an artist, musician, sculptor, inventor, dancer, chef, landscaper, gardener, animal lover, sailor, and motorcyclist. He enjoyed building things - furniture, radio controlled models, a kayak. He had an adventurous spirit, spoke 5 languages, three of them fluently. But most of all, he was a passionate, caring man who touched many people's lives. He will be lovingly remembered and missed very much. Friends may call at McEvoy Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road on Tuesday, May 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral mass will be at St. Patrick's Basilica, corner of Kent and Nepean Sts. on Wednesday May 23rd at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Hope Catholic Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all his caregivers for their support while at home and the dedicated staff at the Ottawa General Hospital.
