William James REID

Reid, William James (1925-2011) Born June 8, 1925 in Outremont, Quebec, son of the late George Orion Reid and the late Janet Reid Bell. Brother of the late Robert Arthur Reid. Bill died on Thursday, November 3, 2011 with his family by his side. He was the dearly loved husband of Joan Witter and loving father of Heather and Suzanne (Sylvain Croteau), and the late Andrea. Loving grandfather to Justin and Benjamin. He enjoyed a 30 year business (1947-1977) career with Aluminium Limited Group of Companies in a variety of financial management positions, including six years (1955-1961) in Sao Paulo, Brazil as Chief Financial Officier of Alcan Aluminio do Brazil, returning to Montreal to senior financial positions with Aluminum Co. of Canada (VP and treasurer) and Alcan International (VP finance). Joined Air Canada in 1977 as Sr. VP and chief financial officer, retired in 1990 as executive vice-president-finance. He loved travel and curling but his greatest pleasure was found on the red and blue courses of Royal Montreal Golf Club where he was a member for 40 years. He shared his knowledge and generosity over the years on the Boards of the Griffith McConnell Home, The Mount Royal Cemetery Co. and trustees of Mount Royal United Church.His kindness and caring extended to all he knew and he loved helping in whatever way he could. Service will be held at Mount Royal United Church, 1800 Graham Blvd. TMR, on Wednesday November 9, at 11 am.
