At Marycrest Home for the Aged, Peterborough, on May 28, 2001. Gertrude Stewart (nee Cassidy) in her 88th year. Beloved wife of Dorian Stewart of Peterborough. Loving mother to Anne of Ottawa, Ronald of Lakefield, Brennan of Edmonton, Brian of Fonthill, Donald of Toronto and Elizabeth of Ottawa. A loving and special grandmother (Nanny) to Stewart Lindale of Ottawa, Matt and Greg of Edmonton, Sean, Ryan, Andrew and Marisa of Fonthill; Paul and Carey of Edmonton; Christopher of Kapuskasing; David of Ottawa and Shana Lee of Ottawa. Gertrude will be sadly missed as a mother-in-law to Cathy, Lynda, Rosemary and Judy. Predeceased by her parents Annie (Doran) and John J. Cassidy; her sisters, Sister Mary Veronica and Anna Kearns and brothers Dr. John P., Francis, and Damian Cassidy. The great-grandchildren were blessed by her presence - Breanna Wasson and Kyle Stewart; Katie, Emma and Thomas Lindale. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Gertrude was a constant sources of guidance and support to all who loved and knew her. Friends may call at the Comstock Funeral Home from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 1 p.m. at St. Anne's Church, Peterborough, with interment to follow at Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery, Madoc, at 3:30 p.m. A reception will be held at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall following the graveside service. If so desired, donations in Gertrude's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Ottawa Citizen, May 31, 2001
