CSJ (Sister Mary Ann Lapierre) Sister Jean Lapierre passed away peacefully into her eternal rest at the Pembroke General Hospital on June 20, 2001. Sister Jean entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Pembroke on February 11, 1937. She was in the 65th year of her religious life. Left to mourn her loss are her sisters in the Congregation; her sister, Mrs. Mary Nadeau, Chapeau; her brothers, Rev. Michael Lapierre, SJ, Toronto, Cecil, Chapeau, and Lennox, Scarborough; her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins, as well as many friends in the following areas where she ministered first as a teacher in Chapeau and Campbell's Bay before going to St. Michael's in Toronto to train as a nurse. Upon receiving her RN certificate she moved to Western Canada in 1949 to minister in Barrhead, AB, Radville, SK, and Regina, SK. In 1960 she did post graduate work in advanced practical obstetrics at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. She will be fondly remembered for her faithful service in the health care field. Sister returned to the East in May of 1997 and enjoyed her retirement after ministering to the people of Western Canada for a period of 48 years. Sister Jean was born in Chapeau, QC, a daughter of the late John and Mary Jane McGuire. She is predeceased by her brother, Bert. Resting at St. Joseph's Motherhouse, Pembroke, after 7 P.M. Thursday, June 21. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, June 22, at 10:30 A.M. in the Chapel. Interment at St. Columba's Cemetery, Pembroke.
