Peacefully after a long struggle with cancer on June 21, 2001 at the age of 75. Vince is survived by his three children Kathy de la Salle (Marc), Wayne Roach (Sharon) and Karen Barker (Kevin), as well as six grandchildren and two sisters. Vince was born in Waltham, Massachusetts on May 18, 1926, but spent most of his childhood in Cheticamp, Nova Scotia. He served proudly with the Canadian Armed Forces and the Department of National Defence in Canada, the United States and Europe until his retirement in 1996. Vince is predeceased by his wife Frances. Vince enjoyed golf and spending time with his grandchildren, and gave his time to volunteer at the Perly Rideau Veterans' Hospital. Vince will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway on Monday, June 25, 2001 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, June 26 at 11 a.m. Contributions to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre Foundation, 503 Smyth Road, Ottawa or to the Elisabeth Bruyere Pavilion, 43 Bruyere Street, Ottawa would be appreciated.
