Bachelor of Arts Honours English Matthew was born December 13, 1974 in Edmonton, Alberta, died peacefully at home in the loving arms of his family on Sunday, June 24, 2001. Matthew will live on in the hearts and minds of his parents, Sam and Karen, his brother Andrew and his sister Katie. Matt will also be fondly remembered by his grandfather, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Matthew showed strength, courage and conviction as he fought a long and difficult battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. During the two-year struggle, Matt came to terms with his illness and also helped those who were close to him deal with their loss. Matt expressed his love of life through literature, good films, theatre, music, sports, and support of those who were oppressed. Thank you Matt for teaching us how to live. Thank you as well to all those who cared for Matthew and his family during his illness. Donations to the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of the Ottawa General Hospital and the United Church Healing Fund for First Nations People. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry Funeral Home, 315 McLeod Street on Wednesday, June 27th from 7 to 9 p.m. A Service to celebrate Matthew's life will be held on Thursday, June 28th at 7 p.m. at Wesley United Church, 31 Graham Avenue (corner of Main Street and Graham Avenue (Ottawa).
