It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Walter Ireland. In the early hours of July 1, 2001, Walter slipped gently into the night with his family at his side. Walter is mourned by his beloved wife Faye, his five children: Kevin (Karla), Susan (Shawn Nadeau), Kathryn, Joshua (Clarke) and Jared, his nine grandchildren: Tim and Ricky Auger, Melissa Joanisse, Andrew, Jerrica, Kristin and Nicholas Nadeau, Ian and Ben Ireland. Loved son-in-law of Doris and Alfred Blow of Stittsville and Jessie Capstick of England. Brother of Trevor and Maureen Ireland of Burnley, England. Brother-in-law of Helen and Jack Petrie of Carleton Place and uncle of Krista and Scott Petrie. Predeceased by his parents Teddy and Minnie Ireland and his first wife, Sheila. Walter's passion was soccer as a player, manager, coach, referee and fan. He was a proud member of the Glens Falcons Soccer Club, former coach for the South Nepean Soccer Club, founding member of the Bytown Blues Rugby Club. Walter was employed by B.J. Maheral Trucking and previously with Almonte Diesel. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd., Nepean (between Baseline Rd. and Bayshore Dr.) on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Thursday at 2 p.m. Cremation to follow.
