Martin Tanguay

Martin Tanguay 1947 - 2019 - Martin C. Tanguay, 72, of South Yarmouth passed away on November 2, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle against brain cancer. Martin was born August 3, 1947 in St. Prosper, Quebec, Canada. The son of Florian and Yvette Tanguay, Martin grew up on a farm as the second of ten children. Martin immigrated to the US when he was 18 and would become a distinguished US Marine. He served in Vietnam as a scout sniper, achieving the rank of Lance Corporal. Martin was an expert marksman. He eventually settled on Cape Cod where he met his wife of 42 years, Madeleine. He spent his career as a sub-contractor specializing in drywall, metal stud framing, and suspended ceilings. Later in life, he became a successful business owner and started his own company, Tanguay and Son Drywall, working with his son Jesse, which he enjoyed immensely. Martin was a dedicated family man who loved his family and friends. He was very proud of his three children and five grandchildren. Martin enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and traveling throughout North America. He had a passion for hockey and could always be found watching any NHL game. He never missed his favorite team, the Montreal Canadiens. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother. He is survived by his five brothers and three sisters; his wife Madeleine; son Alex and his wife Nacole and grandson Jack of Melrose, MA; son Jesse and his wife Nicole and granddaughter Olivia of Yarmouth, MA; and daughter Jenna Amadi and her husband Christophe with grandaughters Ariane and Abigaelle and grandson Tristan of Austin, TX. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, November 7 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth, MA. A funeral mass will be held at Saint Pius X on Saturday, November 9 at 10 am. Il laisse dans le deuil outre son épouse madame Madeleine Flynn; ses enfants : Alex (Nacole), Jesse (Nicole), Jenna (Christophe) ainsi que ses 5 petits-enfants. Il était le frère de : Lévis (feu Martha Potts), feu André (Louiselle Paquet), Réjean, Michel (Kathleen Silva Tanguay), Jocelyne (feu Jean-Paul Tremblay), Nancy (feu Gilles Stringer), Johanne (Jean-Marie Ouellet), Donald (Suzanne Bisier) et Gilles (Nathalie Lessard). Il laisse également dans le deuil les membres de la famille Flynn ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nièces, cousins, cousines et ami(e)s.
