Peacefully on July 10, 2001, aged 85 years. Survived by his sons Douglas (Krystine) and Peter, daughter Morag (Tom), grandchildren Jamie and Katie, and sister Helen (Melrose, Scotland). Predeceased by his beloved wife Gwen and brother Bobby. Jim was a dairyman in Edinburgh, Scotland, veteran of the Second World War, post-war immigrant to Canada, teacher with the Ottawa Board of Education until 1978 (primarily at Vincent Massey Public School), clerk of the Federal Court, and active volunteer worker (Perley Hospital and Meals on Wheels). Jim will be sorely missed by family, friends, church and community, to whose service he was devoted. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, July 12, 2001 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service in the Chapel on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Pinecrest Cemetery.
