RAF WWII Veteran Peacefully at home in Nepean, surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at the age of 79 after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Bridget. Loving father of Charissa Watts (Robert), Paul Haines (the late Andrea) and Bill Haines (Sherri). Grandfather of Melanie and Shawn, Garrett and Kyra, Alicia and Jessica. He will be fondly remembered by his loving sister Phyllis (Zdenek) and nieces Melanie and Juliet of England, along with many others. Peter was a WWII flying instructor, a B24 pilot, a member of the Burma Bombers Association, R.C.A.F. Club member and a Fellow in the IEE. Post war he held various positions managing many international engineering projects, completing his distinguished career as Vice President of Professional Services for CIDA. Special thanks to the V.O.N. and the Ottawa area Medical Staff for their care and support. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd., Nepean (between Bayshore Dr. and Baseline Rd.) on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday at 2 p.m. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Unrelated Bone Marrow Donar Registry at Canadian Blood Services, 1800 Alta Vista Dr., Ottawa.
