Suddenly at home on Thursday July 19, 2001, Doug passed away at the age of 43. His very dear son Zachary survives him. Forever he remains the cherished son of Kay Laird and Stu Laird, and will always be remembered by Dorothy O'Brien. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his sister Barbara (Bruce Craig) and brother Jim (Vicki) and he will be profoundly missed by Shelly Lethebe. Doug will be fondly remembered by his niece Caitlin and nephews Adam, Ryan and Scott, aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be sadly missed by the many wonderful friends and colleagues that have shared in his life. A memorial to celebrate his life will be held at McInnis and Holloway's "Chapel of the Bells," 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary on Tuesday July 24, 2001 at 3 p.m. Those wishing to do so, may make memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
