Pauline Kay Ryan

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pauline Kay Ryan (née Oberst) on July 16, 2026. Born in London, England, she came to Canada in her twenties and made Montreal her beloved home for more than sixty years. It was there that she met and married her devoted husband, raised her family, and built a life filled with friendship, laughter, and community. Though she had been a resident of Ontario in recent years, Montreal always held her heart. She leaves behind her loving husband, Denis, and her three children, Douglas (Theresa), Lesley (David), and Stacey (Grant). Her five cherished grandchildren-Hope, Morgan, Catriona, Lindsey, and Fraser-were the joy of her life. Pauline was a devoted mother and spent countless early mornings driving her children to practices and competitions, and many weekends cheering them on. She had a deep love of animals throughout her life and was always happiest with a pet nearby. Bridge was one of her greatest pleasures, and for many years she played several times a week with dear friends who enriched her days. In earlier years, she was an enthusiastic curler and later served as manager of the Glenmore Curling Club before working for many years in importing. She was an early adopter of technology and was always eager to embrace the latest innovations. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Waterside Retirement Community and Bayshore HealthCare for their care and compassion. In honour of her memory, donations to a local animal shelter would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends and all whose lives were touched by her warmth, generosity and spirit. A celebration of Pauline's life will take place at a later date, after which she will be reunited with her mother, Hetty, and sister, June, at Rideau Memorial Gardens in Montreal.
