Veteran WW II, RCNVR, PPCLI, RCAF In hospital, Sunday, August 26, 2001 due to complications during a lengthy stay; Corkie age 75. Beloved husband of Bertha Lillian Brett. Loving father and generous friend to Jim (Ottawa Fire Department) (husband of Line) and Dan of Jasper, Alberta. Proud grandfather of James and Douglas. Dear brother of Lawrence and Orville of Winnipeg. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Donald and Hector of Winnipeg; sisters Treasure of Thunder Bay and Bernice of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Served our country with the RCNVR in WW II BOTH The Atlantic and Pacific theatres and at the D-Day landing, the PPCLI post war and then as a Safety Equipment Technician RCAF/CAF. Worked at CHEO upon retirement from the military. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff at Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus, Wards 5B, G1 and A5. Lest we forget. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 3000 Woodroffe Ave. Nepean (south of Fallowfield Road) Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Service in Memory of Corkie will be held Thursday in the chapel at 2 p.m. Interment Canadian Military Cemetery.
