On Monday, September 3, 2001 at the Brockville General Hospital, William Osbourne Montgomery of Brockville, formerly of Montreal, and a native of Smiths Falls, at the age of eighty-seven years. Beloved husband of the late Jane Jackson Taylor. Loving father of Jane Montgomery and her husband Orval Marner of Senneville. Dear brother of Joyce Daigle and husband Fernand (Babe) of St. Lambert, and Lois Duckett and husband Lloyd (Duke) of Costa Mesa, California. Also survived by his brother-in-law Alex Taylor and wife Eileen, as well as by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother John and wife Ella, his brother Frank, his brother-in-law Donald, and sisters-in-law Elizabeth and Jessie. Special thanks are extended to Carol Blaire and Clara Crooke, as well as the staff of 1 East, Brockville General Hospital, and Drs. Lauf and Argue for the compassionate care they provided during Bill's illness. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday after 12 noon. In celebration of Bill's life a ceremony will be held in the Chapel on Thursday at 1 o'clock. Interment in Montreal at a later date.
