Montreal. Reverend Father Joseph Patrick Lannon, formerly of Glace Bay, N.S., passed away peacefully in the Jewish General Hospital, Montreal, on September 9, 2001. Father Patrick was an ordained member of the Institute Voluntas Dei and served in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Montreal. Born in Glace Bay, Father Lannon was the son of the late Catherine Lannon (O'Donnell). He was predeceased by an infant sister Mary Kay. Father Patrick ("Joe") is survived by his father Edward; brothers James, John, Tom, all of Glace Bay, N.S., and Al (Gemma), of Truro, N.S.; and sister Eileen (Keith Oldford) of Glace Bay. Also survived by nieces and nephews Carla and Glen (Deborah) of Truro, N.S.; Jason and Lana (Shaun MacDonald) of Fredericton, N.B.; Jim Shylow of Manitoba; and Glen of Glace Bay. The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 12, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Basilica, Montreal, where Father Lannon was ordained to the priesthood in 1990. Visitation will be held at the Lady Chapel, 454 Rene-Levesque Blvd., on Tuesday, from 2 to 9 p.m. Patrick's remains will be placed at his mother's grave in Glace Bay, N.S.
