Peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 16, 2001 at age 73. Beloved wife of Kenneth Norman Darou of Community Care Perth. Cherished mother of Lynne Brazeau (Michael), Ottawa, James Darou (Ann), Smiths Falls, Carole Magill (Gerald), Amherstview and Laurie Modderman (Leonard), Kitchener. Loving grandmother to Heather and Scott Brazeau, Jonathan and Bradley Magill, Steven Darouo and Emily Modderman. Predeceased by parents Agnes and Duncan A. Fraser and sisters Anna McCuaig and Dorothy Brown. Christie is survived by two sisters, Catharine Gourlay and Eileen Kirker as well as one brother D. A. Fraser, all in the Cornwall area. Christie is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. She graduated from Ottawa Normal School in 1946 and spent the last ten years teaching for the Lanark Board of Education in North Elmsley School until retirement in 1979 after which she and Ken spent many happy winters in Florida and summer at Otty Lake. Friends may pay their respects at the Perth & District Funeral Home Chapel and Reception Centre 15 Victoria Street, Perth on Saturday 1 to 2 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, September 22, 2001 at 2 p.m. Reception to follow in the reception centre.
