On Monday, September 24, 2001 following a 15 year struggle with Alzheimer's disease, Vito passed away peacefully at home with his family. Born July 10, 1930 and raised in the town of Castellamare Del Golfo, Italy and a 36 years resident of Ottawa. Vito, beloved husband of 35 years and best friend of Rosaria Scaffidi Argentina. Loving and proud father of Santo (Mirella), Maria (Tom Gallivan) and Antonino. Cherished "nonno" of Michael and Vittoria Gallivan. Predeceased by parents Santo and Francesca Pecorella and brother Antonino Pecorella and sister Maria Sottile. Vito is survived by his sister Paolina, brothers Francesco, Vincenzo and Andrea. Thanks to the many caregivers, homecare workers and VON health care professionals who helped the family throughout the years. Special thanks to Dr. Larry Dobson, Ron McCoy, Aysoury Bounnapha and most of all to our mother who has been the most devoted, loving and unconditional caregiver. Vito is fondly remembered by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be sadly missed by his little friend "George". Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 585 Somerset Street (Centretown), Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Friday to St. Anthony's Church for Mass of Christian Funeral at 11 a.m. Entombment Pinecrest Cemetery.
