Peacefully at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital, after a short hospital stay, on Saturday, September 29, 2001 at 9:00 p.m., in his 70th year. Beloved husband of Irene (nee Hekelaar) of Chesterville. Cherished father of Frank (Lynn), Peter, Linda (David Richards). Fondly remembered by grandchildren Jeremy, Tammy, Kandi, Tanyss, Christopher, Stephanie and Samantha. Son of the late Jan Baptist Heerkens. Survived by his mother Francesca Martina Van Der Zanden and sisters Hendrika and Cornelia of the Netherlands. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Resting at the Chesterville Funeral Home, 62 Queen St., Chesterville, where friends may call on Tuesday, October 2nd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service to be held on Wednesday, October 3rd in the chapel of the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Bert DeBruijn officiating.
