1920-2001. Passed away peacefully at home on October 14, 2001 following a long illness. He is survived and will be sadly missed by Alma, his wife of fifty-two years, son Gordon (Gail) and niece Lee Sleno (Greg), and his sisters Ruby Farr and Shirley Mattingly, both in Arizona. He will also be missed by many other relatives and friends. George served his country overseas with the 17th Hussars and recently retired as Honourary Colonel of the Royal Canadian Hussars after sixty-two years of proud involvement with the regiment. He also founded and operated Routleco for almost forty years. At George's request a private family service was held prior to cremation. Donations may be made in his name to the Royal Canadian Hussars Institute, 4185 Cote des Neiges, Montreal, the Old Brewery Mission or a charity of your choice. May he rest in peace.
