Peacefully at home on Monday, October 15, 2001 after a long term illness. Dr. Donald K. MacMillan of Finch, age 58 years. Beloved husband of Claudette Charron. Loving father of Sebastien and Sarah. Dear son of Rev. Dr. Donald Neil MacMillan and the late Jean MacLean. Predeceased by his infant sister Flora and his brother Robert. Don grew up in Dunvegan and was educated at Dunvegan and Maxville. He acquired his medical degree at McGill University, Montreal in 1967 and continued his medical studies in Ottawa, Edmonton and Scotland. After a period of travel, he practiced family medicine on the West Island of Montreal where he met and married Claudette. In 1975 they moved to the family century farm in Finch, where Don had his medical practice. He was on staff at the Winchester & District Memorial Hospital for 26 years. Don suffered 8 years of illness caused initially by irradiation of the thymus gland as an infant. This was thought to prevent crib death. Relatives and friends will be received at Kenyon Presbyterian Church, Dunvegan on Saturday, October 20, 2001 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. If so desired, donations to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital, 566 Louise Street, Winchester, Ontario, would be appreciated.
