On October 23, 2001 at home. A WWII Iwo Jima US Marine Vet passed away peacefully after a long battle with diabetes. A proud member and secretary of the Longhouse and a Native and human rights activist. Mr. David is predeceased by his wife Thelma and brothers Thomas and Albert. He is sadly missed by sisters, Louise, Ruth, Sarah, Helen, Anne and Winnie; children, Linda (John), Walter Jr. (Lise), Daniel, Denise, Joseph, Nicholas, Marie and Valerie; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous friends. A final ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 27, 2001 starting at sunrise at his home, 344 West in Kanehsatake Territory and at 12 noon he will be moved to his final resting place on Ahsennonhsen, beside his lifelong partner, Watsenniiostha Thelma David.
