The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital in Summerside, P.E.I., after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, October 25, 2001 at age 51. Lovingly remembered by her mother Velma Bernard, her husband Roel Bakker, her children Krista Bakker (fiance Cameron Ferguson) and Vanessa Bakker and several nieces and nephews. Survived by her brothers Terry (Pauline) Bernard and Fred Bernard and her sister-in-law Cathy Bernard. Predeceased by her father Cyril Bernard and her brother Blair Bernard. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society appreciated. After cremation a memorial service was held at The East Prince Funeral Home in Summerside, P.E.I. on October 31, 2001. A further Funeral Mass will be held at St. Martin de Porres Church, 3891 Richmond Road on Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at 7 p.m. The Ottawa Citizen, Nov. 17, 2001
