Lillian Litt GALLAY

(nee Gallay) passed away peacefully at her residence in Winnipeg on October 29, 2001, in her ninety-third year. She was predeceased by her parents, Herman and Relya Gallay (nee Leith), her husband, Richard Litt and five older siblings: Benjamin and Dr. Wilfred Gallay, Mary Stein, Dr. Minnie Vare and Jean Caplan. She was born in Hawkesbury, Ontario and grew up in Calgary, where she obtained a degree in Education and taught in rural Alberta schools for several years before moving to New York City where she lived and worked for fifty-five years. She returned to Winnipeg in 1996 to be closer to her devoted nephew and niece, Dr. Aubrey and Philipa Caplan and to other members of her extended family. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren and will be sadly missed by her niece Tilya Gallay Helfield of Montreal. The Montreal Gazette, Nov. 5, 2001
