ABC MC Peacefully at home, after a courageous and long battle with cancer, Tuesday, October 30, 2001. Beloved husband and best friend of Yvonne Fenwick, previously loving husband to the late Wilma MacGillivray. Loving father of Carol O'Connor (Patrick), Michelle Moody (Robert), David (Charlene), Richard (Julie) and Jason; Caring stepfather to Mark Pomfret (Kathy Scott). Grandfather to Liam Ewington, Cara and Terralyn O'Connor, Connor Moody and Alyssa Green. Survived by his sister Angela Saddington (Warren Moore) and his brother-in-law Dr. Royce MacGillivray. After a short period in the banking business, Rick spent his working life in the communication field, specializing in internal communication. In 1978, he was accredited as a business communicator by the International Association of Business Communicators, and in 2001, he was awarded the Master Communicator designation-the highest honour available from the Association in Canada. Rick was local chapter president 1979 and again in 1985 and for four years, he represented Canadian communication professionals on the international board. His willingness to help from his deep experience will be sadly missed by many colleagues locally, across North America, Europe and Australia. Born in the U.K., Rick made Canada his home since 1955. After residing in the Toronto area, he moved to Ottawa in 1974. Grateful thanks to Dr. Segal, Dr. Malone and all the Nurses at the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre. Also, thanks to Rob at Homecare, Dr. Tobin (Palliative Care) and Edna, Ann and Derrick the VON Nurses all of whom showed him the utmost care and devotion. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 1255 Walkley Road (east of Bank) Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Saturday in the Chapel at 1 p.m. The Ottawa Citizen, Nov. 1, 2001
