PATRY, Donald Vital (Smokey) In his 89th year, on Friday, April 2, 2004, at The Elliott, Guelph, Ontario. Don was the beloved husband of Irene (nee Carson) for sixty-three years. He was the dear father of Donald Kenneth (Ken) Patry and his wife Georgina of Schomberg, Ontario, and Jeanne Marie (Judy) Harsch of Guelph, Ontario. Don was the loving grandfather of Stuart McAulay and his wife Alison of Arthur, Ontario,Vanessa Patry of Vancouver, BC and Phillip Patry of Schomberg, Ontario and the cherished great-grandpa of Rebecca, Hannah, Sarah, and Kenneth McAulay. He was predeceased by his brother Louis and Phillip and by his sisters Laura MacDonald and Catherine Thoman. He will be sadly missed by his many nephews, nieces, and their families. Don had a long and happy career in aviation as a bush pilot, as a RAF ferry command pilot, and as an airline pilot from 1938 until retiring from Air Canada in 1975. His passion for flying continued many years after that. The family would like to acknowledge the loving care and support given by the staff at The Elliott, especially Paul and "The Little Ladies." Friends may call at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home and Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, to meet with the family on Sunday, April 4, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Vigil for Don will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 3:45 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Church of Our Lady, 28 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Monday, April 5, 2004, at 12 p.m. Interment of Ashes will take place at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Haliburton, Ontario, at a future date.
