Passed away peacefully in his sleep at Calgary, Alberta, on Monday, November 12, 2001. He was predeceased by beloved wife Rosie (Melnyk) in 1993 and is survived by son Sandy (Carole) and granddaughters Shauna and Laura. Tom was born in Edmonton in 1923. He was raised and educated there and in Alloa, Scotland. After finishing school and a stint on the Alaska Highway, he served in the RCN 1942-45. After the war he worked for the Department Northern Affairs in Yellowknife and Ottawa as Chief Mining Recorder for the North. He finished off his professional career as a Director for the National Museums of Canada. In retirement, Tom and Rose lived in Elk Point, Alberta, Victoria, El Centro, California and Calgary. At Tom's request, there will be no funeral service. Donations can be made in Tom's name to CNIB, 15 Colonel Baker Place, N.E. Calgary. The family would like to thank the staff at the Glamorgan Nursing Home for their care and support. Cremation.
