J. E. Irene CORKERY

(Retired Teacher) Irene McCool (nee Corkery) a resident of Providence Centre Toronto and formerly of Pembroke. Irene in her 90th year, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's, died peacefully with Patrick, Maureen and Sheila by her side on Tuesday November 13, 2001. Beloved wife of the late Edward P. McCool. Dear mother of Patrick McCool, Maureen Pappin (Mr. Graham Pappin) of Toronto and Sheila Kelen (Judge Michael Kelen) of Ottawa. Loving grandmother of Andrew, Julia and Christopher Kelen and Heather and Gregory Pappin. Daughter of the late Patrick and Julia (nee Sheehan) Corkery. This born teacher, gracious lady and exceptional mother raised, after the death of her husband in 1947, her three children with pride and devotion. She had a profound love of her family, of God and mankind. Her gentle manner masked a tremendous personal courage. To the end she was a gracious lady who was loved by all who cared for her. She will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren. Special thanks to all the staff at Providence Centre in Toronto who cared for Irene with such professionalism and tenderness over the fourteen years she was a resident. Friends and family may call at the MURPHY Funeral Home, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. The Funeral Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning November 17 at 11 o'clock in St. Columbkille's Cathedral, Pembroke. Interment St. Columba's Cemetery. In memory of Mrs. Irene McCool, donations to the Alzheimer's Society or to Providence Centre of Toronto would be appreciated by the family.
